New Power Quality Features
Analyze your power system and make decisions about purchasing, generation, cost reductions, and process optimization using the power quality features in the SEL-734. The features include harmonic metering, flicker measurement, voltage sag/swell/interrupt recording, two independent load profile recorders, and waveform analysis.
The SEL-734 now supports two levels of power quality metering: model number 07340 has all the features it had in the past, plus more accurate harmonic metering. Model number 0734P includes all the features described below. You can easily upgrade your existing meters to use these features.
Extended Harmonic Metering
The meter calculates harmonic magnitudes, angles, and real power to the 50th order, accurate to IEC 61000-4-7 Class 1. Use harmonic triggers to set events on harmonics up to the 15th order.
IEC 61000-4-15 Flicker Measurement
The SEL-734 supports flicker measurement per IEC 61000-4-15 with short-term flicker, long-term flicker, and timers to indicate when the next update will occur. Short-term flicker updates every ten minutes and long-term flicker every two hours. Add these measurements to the load profile recorder to accurately quantify power system flicker.
Voltage Sag, Swell, and Interrupt (VSSI)
The meter includes a full-featured VSSI function with adaptive-rate recording that ensures you will see the entire event.
Load Profile Recording
Two independent load profile recorders with recording intervals from three seconds to 60 minutes take snapshots of any metered value. Use one recorder to capture billing data and the other to log power quality quantities, such as flicker.
Waveform Capture
The powerful event reporting feature in the SEL-734 captures disturbances in the power system. Select from 8 kHz or 1 kHz sampling rates, and 0.25, 0.5, or 1 second waveform lengths. Apply ACSELERATOR® Report Server SEL-5040 Software and enable the SEL-734’s automatic dial-out for a simple and reliable waveform retrieval system.

SEL offers two upgrade kit choices for existing meters: firmware only, or firmware with a new main board with expanded memory capabilities. Please refer to the SEL-734 Metering Accessories flyer for additional information.
